In the eight years Scott acted as the General Counsel of the Private Equity Group of Lehman Brothers and Neuberger Berman, the business more than tripled in size to over $16 billion of assets under management. He advised the business not only on the technical aspects of forming funds and making investments, but on the day to day issues arising in the business, including managing litigation, working with outside tax and audit firms and creating controls around critical business, legal and compliance issues.

Scott’s experience as the general counsel of a large private equity fund business provided him with daily exposure to fund formation issues and investment challenges along with the best practices in addressing them.  We can use this unique skill set to advise emerging fund managers and investors that do not want incur the expense of a large law firm.  This is particularly helpful for first and second time fund managers and family office investors.

We are highly selective in which fund managers we represent.  We treat each engagement as an investment and offer a reduced fixed fee arrangement for fund formation projects as well as flexibility on the timing of payment in order to assist managers with getting their fund up and running.  We want to provide outstanding value at the start of the relationship with the hope of continuing as the business matures.
